In Makoto players strive to make clever plays which will win them the top cards. The game is played in continuous rounds which only stop when all players pass. Each player must play higher cards than the previous player or pass. The last player to play takes all cards played, and will score them at the end of the game. During the round, players may also discard or pick up cards. When a player has got rid of all their cards they will be rewarded with points. When all but one player has got rid of all their cards the round ends and is scored, and a new round begins. Makoto is all about skillfully improving your hand cards and weighing up when to continue playing or when to pass.
